In the UK, 17 babies a day are stillborn or die in the first 4 weeks of life

Sands is working to improve care of babies and parents during pregnancy, when a problem is recognised and when a baby has died. Above all we want to ensure that as few babies as possible die and that parents are spared the pain and grief which follows a baby’s death.

Literature

Ayrshire Sands provides literature free of charge to all Hospitals, Doctors, Community Midwives. and CPNs.

We are also happy to provide to any other healthcare professionals who are involved in any way with bereaved families. We encourage health professionals to use the literature provided to support parents and families.

Training Events

We are also available to attend health committees, workshops and training events for health professionals and other organisations.

We are often asked by professionals to provide guidance on how they can best support parents during this difficult time, whilst remaining professional. We have in the past given talks to Trainee Midwives, Junior Doctors, Consultants and Midwives.

Talks range from a very personal account from a bereaved parent to a professional power point presentation.

If you would like someone to attend a training session you are organising or you have any questions please <email here>
